jawsbush wrote: daniel, as u can see in the last pic, the white pipe has a hole at the bottom, so i suppose the water will flow from there. but i think its possible to stop the flow if theres a stop valve at every level output. to stop water from flowing to lower levels as well as the sump tanks. this is so to prevent overflowing the lower level tanks and the sump tanks. If you look carefullyin the last photo, Observe closely in the white tube hole was another smaller yellow tube.So water will flow in from the hole at bottom of the white tube, water will then push upwards towards the lip of the yellow tube and out flow once reaches to the yellow tip and flow down and out of the tank. Tell me if you got the water flow dynamics by now, if not i'll draw a diagram for you to understand better

 Re: Betta System Tank
okay..i understand wat u mean.. but wont the debris be too heavy to be pushed upwards along the white tube to go into the inner yellow tube? wont it clog the white tube's bottom hole within time..?

 Re: Betta System Tank
Guys,
i did test the fluid flow for this system using a simple paper cup , 1 x normal size straw and 1 large straw (noramly used by ABC/cendol seller.
poke a small hole same size with the small straw .. and insert the straw in that hole and seal it (in this case i used plaster sine)
paper cup is about 10 cm tall just make sure that the small straw is about 3cm lower the cup "mouth level" then cut the bigger 'cendol" straw with about 1 cm lower than the cup "mouth" level. (now the bigger straw is 2cm higer than the smaller straw).
not make a "V" cut at the 1cm at the end of bigger straw.
if you assemble it right ... u can see that the water will stop flowing out and water in cup will remain at 3cm lower from the cup "mouth" level.
my main issue is 1. where can i get those small plastic mounting used at the tank bottom and where can i order my customs tank with hole in it.

 Re: Betta System Tank
i believe u would hav to custom directly from the factory or u would hav to DIY.. theres no doubt that the system works(according to laws of gravity and water displacement). but still my question will be on how does the fish crap and debris be pushed upwards to enter the small tube/straw? it is not only water we would like to circulate, but food wastes and fish crap too..

 Re: Betta System Tank
normally betta crap, *ayun* and others solid debris will lays at the bottom of the tank. hence when the water being "injet" into the tank the water level will raise and then will create a pulling force within the smaller tubing and if enough force being created it should able to suck the betta *ayun*/crap out.
provided that 1. the size of both pipe is adequate.Maybe the owner of this barrack can share with us the size and diameter of his white and yellow piping used. 2. the size of betta *ayun* should be 'small" enough to pass thru between this white and yellow pipe.

 Re: Betta System Tank
okay.. a valid theory. but wont the force required to move those crap be tiring to the fish? i mean, the fish would be stuck in that small tank and be swimming against downward current 24/7.. oh yeah one more thing i need to ask the betta rack sifus. i notice that some sort of slime accumulates around the surface of my betta container, from where the water touches. leaving it to accumulate will end up blurring ur tank surface, plus at a certain point emit an unpleasant fishy smell. how could we prevent that from happening in a rigid betta rack system? if we still need to scrub every tank then it defeats the purpose of the system, right?

 Re: Betta System Tank
there is remedy for your solutions ... i forget the name of fish medicine but i hold label of "Aqua" and the solutions is green in color. help to prevent "unwanted" growth of water algae. and as for the fish vs. water flow ... well ... i thought that we should on "turn on" this system 1 or 2 hrs every 2 days to clean the water jar.

 Re: Betta System Tank
if u turn on the system for just 1-2 hrs a day, then u will never get to cycle the system. the bio-filter will perish within that few hours that the system is off. it must be running 24/7..

 Re: Betta System Tank
This system looks good to me.but i do have a few solution for those out there who is going to try out this system - for the glass tank bottom piece hole - you can replace it with a clear perspex or acrylic sheet ( engineering plastic ) can purchase from any advertising shop. this material thickness is available in many sizes and can cut thus drill to any size of your requirement - for the suction hole, if you think it is a little bit higher from the base - you can change it to a bigger diameter pipe ( grey pvc pipe ) which the inner diameter a bit bigger than the white insert part . make a half circle round at the bottom edges of this pipe. This will make the suction of debis easier to flow out from the bottom surface - as we can see the yellow pipe tip edge is the highest point for the tank water to flow out, therefore when the pump is off /power failure the water will still remain at the pipe tip edge - the greater the flow inlet to the tanks will create a bigger suction volume of water to flow out . but what will happen if the flow out pipe is clog in one of the tanks - caution!! - water will keep on rising and flow out thru the tank top and eventually dry out the filteration sump tank . - this wil be the worst scenario we're going to talk about, but do not worry, already have some solution in my mind-just need some time to do some design work out for this low cost miniature overflow stopper float valve.
