Hi Bro, Sorry for digging this thread up. Very neat setup there. Just some questions. Does your system run continuously? If yes, during power(or pump) failure, won't the water from all your tank get drained out until it reach the same level as the hole at the bottom?

 Re: Betta System Tank
regarding power failure in that system.. i think theres a valve somewhere on the main output to stop the gravity flow of the water to the sump.

I believe so too since this thread already few mths ago and there's no bad feedback from bro childish that his system encounters problem. Just want to understand exactly how he overcome this problem.

 Re: Betta System Tank
well, theres not much power failures in west malaysia compared to the power woes we are experiencing here in sabah.. heheh!

 Re: Betta System Tank
Hi Gan, if power failure the water level would not all overflow out it only stay with the level with tip of the yellow straw. So if power failure, betta fish still safe in the tank.

So if power failure, betta fish still safe in the tank. but sump tank will overflow unless there's a overflow protection system that drain excess water to a drain to prevent floor flooding

 Re: Betta System Tank
daniel, as u can see in the last pic, the white pipe has a hole at the bottom, so i suppose the water will flow from there. but i think its possible to stop the flow if theres a stop valve at every level output. to stop water from flowing to lower levels as well as the sump tanks. this is so to prevent overflowing the lower level tanks and the sump tanks.

Hi bro Damian, From the pics, i think there's no valve at all for his system. Even if there's any valve, as long as its not automated, I guess when owner is not around, the system will still not able to prevent overflowing right? Anyway I'm posting questions on bro childish's system cos I plan to do a similar system in singapore. But the cost will be high, which is the detering factor. I can't do it in JB cos my mum will kill me. Maybe in a few years time when i finally plan to get my own house in JB, i can keep as many fish as i wan but as of now, limited to singapore. Small space, lift constrained, high cost... -_- Back to the overflow system, will a toilet type floating ball stop valve work if place at the output to the sump tank be able to stop the flow in case of pump failure? (let's not talk about power failure, guess its kinda sensitive. ) By maintaining the water level in the sump tank, overall water level of the system will be able to be maintain as well when water input doesn't work aka pump failure. Only problem foresee is water from all individual tank will be mixed at this point where it still has not be exposed to UV system which leads to potential mass outbreak of disease.

 Re: Betta System Tank
the UV filtration system is the heart of the whole setup.. u cant have a running barracks system without having the water to mix from tank to tank. im not so sure about how ure gonna setup the ball valve and where ure going to put it. i dont see any valve on each level too, but its just my suggestion. as far as i can see manual shutting of the flow is one way of reducing the risk of tank draining out. its just an idea, but if u can provide us with better ones, pls do so bcos im thinking of setting a barracks system up too.. hehehe!
